PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Rockville man has been arrested after police said they found methamphetamine and 71 grams of marijuana inside his vehicle and “within reach” of a juvenile passenger.
According to the Rockville Police Department (RPD), officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by James Michael Brown, 34, of Rockville, near the intersection of U.S. Highway 36 and Erie Street on August 1 for a vehicle equipment violation.
During the traffic stop, police said they determined that Brown was driving without a valid driver’s license. A juvenile passenger was also allegedly in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.
Officers then located “drug paraphernalia, including syringes, approximately 71 grams of marijuana, and methamphetamine,” according to RPD. The drugs and paraphernalia were also allegedly within reach of the juvenile passenger.
Brown was taken to the Parke County Jail and charged with possession of methamphetamine (a level 6 felony), unlawful possession of a syringe (a level 6 felony), neglect of a dependent (a level 6 felony) and possession of marijuana (misdemeanor).
