SHELBURN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Over in Shelburn, a very unique show held was this weekend.
This was the second year for the Wabash Valley Insulator Show. Collectors from all over the United States came down to Sullivan County to showcase their collections. At the event, collectors explained the rich history of insulators and how each one tells its own story with some being over 100 years old.
A little bit of a history lesson. Insulators played a crucial role when it comes to early electrical communication development.
“18, 1860s, 70s, 80s, 90s. You know, 1890s. That’s when a lot of these were made, so it’s a lot of great history behind the hobby,” said Cole King, show-host for the Wabash Valley Insulator Show.
King also said these insulators can have a high value, so if you have one sitting around, be sure to get it appraised. To get involved visit Everything about Indiana’s glass insulators! or Insulators : National Insulator Association Home Page .
