LINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Residents of Greene County are invited to join the 18-week Food as Medicine Program.
This program was created to combat chronic diseases through healthy eating choices. The course will feature a six-week series of live in-person cooking demonstrations. These recipes featured during the demonstrations will follow the DASH principles that focus on nutrition and portion control.
Over the course of the 18 weeks, participants will also receive food boxes. These boxes will contain fresh fruits, vegetables, and other nutritional items sourced from local areas.
Biometrics screenings will be conducted over the course of the program. They will first be taken at the beginning of the program, then after 120 days, and then one year from initial participation. This will be done to track the body changes as you go through the program.
The program is taking place at Linton-Stockton High School. To register for the program, you can click this link. For more information, you can contact the Greene County Health Department at 812-384-4469.
