TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — With just three rounds left in the USAC Indiana Sprint Week season, three drivers are separated by less than 10 points as the series revs up for a night of sprint car racing at the Terre Haute Action Track.
The race will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, with gates opening at 5 p.m.
The 38th annual USAC Indiana Sprint Week (USAC ISW), presented by Honest Abe Roofing, consists of eight events at eight different racetracks in the Hoosier state across a 10-night span between July 24 and August 2.
ISW kicked off the season at The Dirt Track at IMS on Thursday, July 24, and since then has traveled to Lincoln Park Speedway, Kokomo Speedway, Lawrenceburg Speedway and the Circle City Raceway.
In those races, three drivers—Briggs Danner (283 points), Kevin Thomas Jr. (276 points) and Logan Seavey (275 points)— have separated themselves from the rest of the pack, with the nearest driver (Mitchel Moles) 42 points behind 2024 defending champ Seavey.
Thomas Jr. is also a two-time ISW champion in 2017 and 2021, while Danner is vying for his first ISW championship. The field also includes four other past champions— Justin Grant, Chase Stockton, C.J. Leary and Robert Ballou.
Coming into Thursday’s race in Terre Haute, Danner and Thomas Jr. are looking to continue their hot streak in recent races. With Danner capturing a last-lap, last-turn victory during Tuesday night’s win at Kokomo Speedway, and Thomas Jr. finishing top six in the last five featured races.
After an exciting night of racing at the Terre Haute Action Track, USAC IWS will head to the Bloomington Speedway on August 1, and then head to the Tr-State Speedway for the season finale on Saturday, August 2.
