TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra is celebrating 100 years with events all over the Wabash Valley.
The Verve hosted an event with live jazz music as a fundraising effort for the organization. They hold fundraisers to help support programs that bring music into everyone’s lives, especially those who can’t afford going to a symphony, or just learning about music and instruments.
The performance included a jazz trio from Terre Haute, who all have something special to add to the group, and have a deep love for music.
“Well, I just was talking with them, and I said how long have you been playing. It’s well over 150 years between the three of us all kinds of music, symphony music, pop music, rock band music, just all kinds of things over the years we’ve all been hired to play shows I’ve worked shows down when I lived in Dallas/Fortworth I worked shows for all kinds of entertainers down there and some up here,” said Randy Mitchell, ISU Faculty and Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra Principal Trombone.
Randy has been a part of the terre haute symphony orchestra, and also the ISU school of music faculty, both since 1990.
