TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Hamilton Center staff, along with community partners from the Wabash Valley Building and Construction Trades Council, gathered on Thursday morning to fill bags with school supplies to give to kids.
These bags will be given out as part of the Hamilton Center’s “We Live” Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 2nd. Families can come for food, games, entertainment, clothes, and school supplies, and it’s all for free for anyone who comes to the bash.
Executive Director of Human Services, Tatu Brown, said this is a way for the Hamilton Center to give back to the community as kids get ready to go back to school.
“We’re giving out free everything from free lunch to free clothes to free haircuts,” Brown said. “Anything that we can do to offset the cost that parents have. When our kiddos are going back to school. The Hamilton Center cares about the community, and we really love to give back to individuals in need. We try to bring all the resources that are available to the area and provide as many people as possible with resources, fun, entertainment, food, things like that.”
The Summer Bash will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Spencer Ball Park. It is located at 14th St. and 8th Avenue, and it is free to the public. To learn more about the Hamilton Center and their We Live event on Saturday, August 2nd, simply visit their website.
