CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — In Brazil, there is another chance to receive free backpacks and school supplies.
The Brazil Elks is hosting the event “Operation “Backpack”. Free backpacks and school supplies will be provided for grades K-5. This is the third year of this event.
The Brazil Elks want to give back to their community. The elks work with Walmart to get discounted supplies. 120 free backpacks, stuffed with supplies will be given away.
Nick McCollum, Lodge Officer with Brazil Elks, said they get to put on this event for free, that’s because the Elks National Foundation pays for all of the supplies.
“There’s a lot of families in need and we just felt like this was an area where we want kids to have their best foot forward when they start school, and having all their supplies helps not only then start school great but helps the school and the teachers start school great,” said McCollum.
The “Operation Backpack” event is August 2nd from 9 am. to 11am. and is located at the Clay County YMCA.
