VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The Knox County Drug Court Foundation is holding its 5th annual Ryan’s Run for Recovery in August.
The event is held each year on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. The run honors the life of deceased Judge Ryan Johanningsmeier. The proceeds for the event go towards providing support to those in the Drug Court program.
Johanningsmeier established the Knox County Drug Court shortly after becoming the Judge of Superior Court 2 in 2015.
The event is scheduled to take place at 8 a.m. on August 30. The Knox County Drug Court Foundation is looking for participants to walk, run, or even volunteer for the event. The Run will feature both a 5k run/walk and a 1-mile walk. Registration costs $30 for the 5k and $15 for the 1-mile, but costs will go up for sign-ups on the day of the event. Race morning packet pickup and registration is from 7:00 – 7:35 a.m. at 620 Busseron Street in Vincennes. The pre-race festivities are set for 7:40 a.m.
The Knox County Drug Court program has served more than 200 individuals in improving the hope and expectation for recovery in the community. The Knox County Drug Foundation’s mission is to support the Drug Court’s efforts to reduce recidivism and achieve long-term sobriety.
