VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Good Samaritan Hospice will be offering a one-day grief camp designed to support children who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
The camp is called Camp Memiki and will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 27 at the Oubache Trails Park. The camp is open to children from ages 6 to 13 and is completely free.
Campers will spend the day engaging in a variety of healing activities, including games, art therapy, nature walks, and more. The activities are designed to help children process their emotions, build coping skills, and connect with peers with similar experiences. The camp focuses on educating, empowering, and equipping children with healthy grief and coping strategies in a supportive setting.
“Camp Memiki is meant to provide a fun and engaging way for children to learn how to cope with grief,” said Makenzie Barrett, RN, Nurse Manager for Good Samaritan Hospice and Palliative Care. “It’s always a special event, and we are proud to offer this opportunity to children in our community who need extra support.”
