TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Many people across the Wabash Valley joined together this afternoon at the Vigo County courthouse.
To make their voices heard about how federal to essential health and food program will impact our community. This weekend’s protest is billed as ‘Families First”, meant to bring people together to demand an end to policies that may harm children, seniors, and families.
A series of protests across the country were planned for today, including dozens across the state of Indiana. Medicaid members, Healthcare workers, faith leaders, and community leaders shared their own experiences and how they will be impacted in Terre Haute.
One woman, Lisa Schwartz, said the cuts to Medicaid will hinder access to mental health resources and prevent them from living a normal life.
“I personally am affected. I’m personally on Medicaid. I deal with a mental health condition. I rely on Medicaid for the medication and the doctors that I need in order to lead a normal life,” said Schwartz.
