TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Baby ducks were the talk of Westminster Village as they held a duck walk to help baby ducks move from their courtyard to the pond on campus.
Residents lined up in the hallway between the courtyard and the door that leads to a path the ducks can take to get to the pond. There was one challenge that arose during the duck walk and that was that mama duck left before the walk could begin. The residence had to step up and help lead the ducks to the pond because they baby ducks were unable to follow their mom to the pond.
Jane Conner, a resident of Westminster Village, got to witness the duck walk for the first time since she became a resident there and she enjoyed every second of it, even with the challenge that arose.
“We planned to do it next week, but apparently mama wanted to leave sooner,” Conner said, “So mama took off and wasn’t here to lead them. So, it made it a little tougher to get them out.”
Director of Marketing and Sales at Westminster Village Deana Wilson said that the residents always enjoy such a fun event.
“The residents love it. It’s a feel good, it’s very happy,” Wilson said. “Our residents have watched from the time the mama laid the eggs, to now that they’re going to go out into the big world. So, it’s a feel good and everybody likes to see new life and growth.”
All the baby ducks did finally make it to the pond safe and sound to the pond.
