TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local foodbank will benefit from funding included in Indiana’s Biennial State Budget.
Catholic Charities Terre Haute’s Food Bank is one of eleven food banks in Indiana receiving funding. Catholic Charities will receive $89,200 in the fiscal year of 2026.
Assistant Agency Director Jennifer Tames said the state legislators approved a total of $2 million to be distributed across those food banks. She said this will help food banks around the state fight food insecurity in their communities.
Tames explained how this will support Catholic Charities Foodbank in Terre Haute.
“This funding for us will go not only to purchase additional foods that are necessary to make up that nutritious plate of food, but also to provide the warehousing and the distribution that’s necessary to get that food out to our neighbors,” said Tames.
She added that people can help by volunteering, and they’re always accepting food and monetary donations.
