TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Early Monday morning, Terre Haute Police Department officers assisted multiple individuals who had fallen into the Wabash River near Fairbanks Park.
According to a social media post from the Terre Haute Police Department, at 3:30 a.m. officers Richardson, Gibson, Pohlman and Minor responded to a report that multiple people fell into the Wabash River near the boat ramp at Fairbanks Park.
Upon the officer’s arrival, one person had made it out safely, but three individuals remained in the water.
THPD said that as one of the victims was being pulled away by the current, Officer Richardson entered the water and was able to pull the individual to safety.
“We’re proud of our officers for their quick action and bravery under pressure,” said THPD. “Great work, gentleman!”
