TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Dozens of kids at a local summer camp got the opportunity to learn about something that folks in Terre Haute see every day: trains.
Chances and Services for Youth’s (CASY) Camp Rave took a ride to the Wabash Valley Railroad Museum in Terre Haute. They spent the week learning about all things trains, including how the railroad operates, how trains work, and some railroad history. The Programs Director said, they hope to continue giving kids experiences like this, to expand their knowledge of the things around them.
“Most people in Terre Haute know trains by that they can’t get around the tracks, and we just want the kids to have a little bit of a better understanding of what trains are used for,” said Beth Wilguess, Director of After School Programs at CASY.
Camp Rave runs from June to August every year. CASY also offers after-school programming during the year. You can learn more at their website.
