MATTOON, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV)— The Coles County Compass and The Broadway District have collaborated to create what they call Experience Mattoon Restaurant Week.
The event is an effort to promote and support locally owned and operated restaurants in Mattoon. Other restaurants and bars will be offering one-day pop-ups throughout the week. Some restaurants will be offering a Prix Fixe menu (which is when they offer a multi-course meal at a set price), and others will be offering special menu items or discounts. Several Mattoon restaurants will be participating, including:
- Alamo Steakhouse
- Courtside Cafe
- Ginger Ale’s Mattoon
- Holey Moley Daylight Donuts
- Hubbartt’s Downtown Diner
- Hunan Fine Asian Cuisine
- La Luna Mexican Restaurant
- Taco Amigos
- Villa Pizza
- Warren James Winery
“It’s our hope that these delicious specials and discounts will incentivize our community members to try something new and to support their favorite local restaurants,” Broadway District Founder Angela Hampton said. “Most of our restaurants lost several days of revenue due to the recent water issue, so this effort is especially timely in our community.”
During the event, attendees are encouraged to visit each of the businesses to enjoy unique food and drink specials. Those who take a photo of their meal and share it on social media with #ExperienceMattoon and #MattoonRestaurantWeek will be entered to win one of several gift cards to the local restaurants at the end of the week.
