TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— With the Vigo County Fair wrapping things up on July 12th, members in 4-H shared some of their favorite memories from this year’s Vigo County Fair.
Kids reminisced about things from showing their animals, representing their animal’s barn in the round robin of champions, checking out the grandstand events, there was something for everyone to enjoy this year.
One 4-H member mentioned the BBQ contest being his favorite.
“Definitely the contest doing it, seeing everybody getting to enjoy good food, everybody’s been coming out and getting to eat,” Cage Lutz said.
Others enjoyed the round robin event.
“I participated in the Round Robin event, which is ultimately just the biggest showmanship competition we have, and I was fortunate enough to win in the senior division,” Jessa Bark said.
“My favorite event so far has been Round Robin, where I just competed last night, all the champions from each barn come and compete,” Ava Armstrong said. “They show 8 different animals, and it has been so magical. Right afterwards, we have a 4-H dance and everybody just comes together and they dance their hearts out all night long.”
Some mentioned showing their animals as their favorite memory this year.
“My favorite part about this year has been getting to show my rabbits and moving up every year,” Aubrey Morgan said.
“The goat show because I worked so hard on my animals for the past year,” Ann Curran said. “I just had to show them and just have fun and be with my friends.”
For others, it was things like watching the grandstand events or working on projects as part of being a 4-H member.
“My favorite thing is definitely all the grandstand events, but last night I got to go see the rodeo, and they’re just such a fun crowd,” Aubrey Bean said. “They get the crowd going. And it was just a really fun experience, seeing all the unique animals and watching everyone do a great job.”
“My craft projects because I get to make up new ideas every year, and I love seeing what I get on it,” Lily Morgan said.
The 2025 Vigo County Fair wraps up on July 12th with a demolition derby at 7:00 p.m.
