SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — UPDATE: Police release the name of the person killed in an early morning shooting in Sullivan County.
According to ISP Sgt. Matt Ames, the shooting occurred around 1:00 a.m. Thursday near Shelburn.
When officers arrived at the home, they discovered Ryan Gehring, 30, of Prairieton had been shot. He was airlifted to a hospital, but died form his injuries.
Police say Gehring and two other individuals were involved in the altercation outside the residence and that Gehring was trespassing on private property and told numerous times by the property owner to leave.
According to ISP, a physical altercation occurred between Gehring and the property owner and that resulted in Gehring being shot.
