TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — If you passed by the Larry Bird Museum Wednesday afternoon, you were met with a pop-up tent promoting the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game.
The WNBA All-Star game host committee is currently on a three-week trip around Indiana, getting fans excited for the big weekend.
Noelle Szydlyk is a member of that committee. She said the event is a fun way to engage with folks in other areas outside of central Indiana.
“Really an opportunity to show and share with people around the state about the all-star game, about the opportunities that are coming up with it next weekend, and what they can do to participate”, Szydlyk said.
Residents were sent clues to locate the pop-up tent.
“The scavenger hunt clues are all about women’s basketball in Indiana”, Szydlyk said. “They are either about high school, college, or WNBA players that are current or former ones that might be from Indiana or ones that play currently for the Indiana Fever.”
The first person to locate the tent was given the opportunity to win tickets to Friday’s events in Indianapolis, such as the 3-point contest and skills challenge.
The winner, Jacci Debow, was at the tent just after the clue was revealed at 11 o’clock.
“I’m a big basketball junkie, I actually run an AAU basketball program”, DeBow said. “I stay completely involved with basketball all the time. I saw the Instagram post online and then from that point I ran down here and within five minutes I hopped in line and was the first one here.”
DeBow said she will be taking her son to Indianapolis with her.
“I have a little boy who is in basketball, and he is super, super excited”, DeBow said. “He went last year, and he asked me if we were going to able to go this year and I said I don’t know, that’s a once in a lifetime experience. Now he has two of them behind his back, so we are super excited.”
The WNBA All-Star festivities begin at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on July 18th.
