TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Vigo County Commissioners held their weekly meeting Tuesday morning.
They discussed several things, including the progress to cut down and eliminate smoking and vaping in the county. A spokesperson for Tobacco Free Vigo said the new tax on cigarettes and vapes will help.
Commissioners also heard about plans for a new gas station and restaurant near the intersection of Rosedale Road and Rio Grande Avenue, as well as a Dunkin Donuts location in Allendale near Carlisle Street.
“That area is probably going to become more commercial,” said Vigo County Commissioner Mark Clinkenbeard. “There’s Speedway there, there’s a Dollar General down the road, and things like that. So we look at that as a good place for an investment of something like that.”
The next Vigo County Commissioners Meeting will be next Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at the Vigo County Annex Building. It is free to the public, and anyone is encouraged to attend.
