LINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Linton held its Freedom Festival Parade, and the streets were full of excitement on Friday morning.
Families packed the streets and sidewalks to watch the Linton Freedom Festival Parade and children dove for candy as the floats drove by. Indiana Governor Mike Braun was the grand marshal for the parade.
“When you see all the patriotism on main street here, folks got to be coming in if they need to do something here on July 4th. We love it because we come from main street,” said Braun.
One of the floats was the Shrine Club, where their mission is to raise funds for disabled children.
President of the Shrine Club Kevin Moore and his wife Sally Moore said they have been participating for years to raise support for their cause.
“We’ve been in the parade for several years now. help out throw candy to the kids and enjoy the kids. you know, that’s our main mission. Just the kids,” said Moore.
The WTWO team also walked in the parade and was thrilled to see so many smiling faces as we handed out candy. Mattinglee and Grant Cooprider say this is a tradition for them.
“Every 4th of July we come out here and watch the parade,” said Mattinglee Cooprider.
Grant Cooprider said he enjoyed the parade and the candy but is mostly looking forward to what happens later.
“My favorite’s the fireworks,” said Grant Cooprider.
