TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Friday evening, the Goodwill Excel Center of West Central Indiana held their first graduation ceremony since opening in August of 2024.
The excel center is a tuition-free adult high school that offers people the chance to get back in the classroom and earn their high school diploma. The event celebrated 15 graduates, including working adults, parents, and students.
Several graduates have earned dual college credits, industry recognized certifications, and secured employment or post-secondary plans.
“We’ve seen them work very hard this last year and get through all kinds of things, both academic and nonacademic. To get to the point where they’re earning this diploma and you know reaching their goals that they set for themselves,” Director of Excel Center Carl Conwell said.
“If you’re an adult and you think that you don’t have any hope because you do not have a high school diploma, come talk to us. Doesn’t matter how long it takes we will try our best to get you there and give the support you need,” President of the Excel Center Meredith Osburn said.
For those interested in the program can visit the excel center’s website.
