TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Duke Energy held a live line demonstration to show the possible danger power lines pose during storm season.
That includes downed powerlines on the ground, transformer failures and equipment failures.
Duke Energy said the best thing to do is call them to report any issues with power lines or equipment problems.
They said you should never touch any wires that are on the ground, even if you think it’s safe.
“Anytime there’s a down conductor stay away, call us immediately, 911 also if there is a fire or someone is in danger, anytime there is equipment on the pole that might have burn up or explode, and if there’s any oil leaking, definitely call us so we can respond to that with environmental cleaned up,” said Dustin Kirby, Operation Supervisor for the Distribution.
To report downed lines or outages to Duke Energy, you can call 1-800-343-3525.
