TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — University Connections at Indiana State University is now underway.
The program takes place weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It began Monday and will last through June 27th.
Second through fifth grade students get the opportunity to practice their writing, brush up their STEM skills, and polish their art capabailties.
Today, ISU athletics gave groups a tour of their facilities and taught them about the school’s tradition and history.
One member of ISU athletics administrative staff, Seth Montgomery, said giving kids a glimpse of day-to-day life as a student-athlete could bring them to Indiana State one day.
“The biggest thing we want them to take away from it is the experience”, Montgomery said. “Just being around athletics for a day, it’s one of the reasons I still stay in athletics. It’s a lot of fun and you get to see all the different aspects and everything that goes on. Nothing is consistent from day to day. Just being able to showcase a little bit about what we do behind the scenes, so when they come and see all the games, they can still follow back and say here’s what happened and here’s the build up to it and everything that has gone into it.”
Registration for this University Connections program is closed for the year.
460 kids signed up.
