SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Later today, a judge will sentence a convicted killer in Sullivan County.
In May, a jury found William Ray Grimes guilty of killing 85-year-old Lowell Badger during a robbery at Badger’s home in December of 2012.
The cold case was solved when one of the other men now charged in the case, Richard Taft, came forward and testified, he saw Grimes shoot Badger in the head. Taft said he, Grimes and Grimes’ brother, Authur, went to Badger’s home looking for pills and money.
Taft will most likely accept a plea agreement that includes a reduced sentence for his testimony. Arthur Grimes has pleaded not guilty. William Taft is expected to receive decades behind bars.
WTWO/WAWV will be live at the courthouse and update you as soon as possible.
