SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A vehicle traveling over 90 mph led police on a chase through Sullivan County, Indiana and Crawford County, Illinois, Thursday evening.
According to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was patrolling the area of U.S. 41 near County Road 400 North, when a red passenger vehicle was clocked going 92 mph in a 60 mph zone.
The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver allegedly didn’t stop and continued southbound on U.S. 41 at speeds between 80 and 90 mph, before turning on State Road 154, said the sheriff’s office.
Crawford County, Illinois, authorities were notified and requested to deploy stop sticks at the Hutsonville Bridge. The stop sticks successfully deflated two to three of the vehicle’s tires, according to officials.
“Despite the damage, the driver continued to flee towards Illinois Route 1. At that point, the vehicle’s front tire was on the rim, causing the driver to lose control and slide into a ditch,” said the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver, Myles Graham, then allegedly exited the vehicle and ran into a nearby field, before being tackled by a Crawford County Sheriff’s Deputy.
Graham was taken into custody on Illinois charges and will then be extradited to Sullivan County on charges of felony resisting, felony criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and driving while suspended prior, said the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.
