SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. — Over in Sullivan County shelters all across the Wabash Valley partnered up on Saturday for the Southwestern Indiana Adoption Event.
The event provided the opportunity for local shelters and rescues to help animals find their forever homes.
Today, six shelters and rescues from around the area teamed up at the Sullivan County 4-h fairgrounds to provide discounted fees, vaccinations and same day take home for those wanting a new furry friend. Organizers of the event say often times people may choose not to go to a shelter so having an event like this makes the experience better.
“What is the actual temperament of the dog. Cause dogs that can handle this kind of environment tend to be a little more people friendly. They’re easier to work with and things like that, so it’s a good time for people to see what the dog might really be like,” said Swaim.
If you missed out on the event, there are still plenty of dogs and cat waiting to be adopted from shelters and rescues across the area.
