SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— After experiencing a tornado two years prior, the mayor of Sullivan, Indiana, has made a statement regarding assisting Greene County.
“First and foremost, my heart—and the heart of our city—is with the people of Linton,” said Sullivan Mayor J.D. Wilson. “The devastation left in the wake of this storm is profound, and we are committed to supporting our neighbors not just in these early days, but for the long recovery ahead.”
According to the statement released by Mayor Wilson, the city of Sullivan dispatched firefighters and a rescue unit to assist Linton’s emergency response. Mayor Wilson stated that he had spoken with Linton officials and Greene County leaders about how to continue supporting. The mayor stated that Greene County doesn’t need additional resources at this time, but that Sullivan will stand ready to help.
“I want to emphasize that our goal is not simply to offer access—but to ensure that our support is meaningful,” said Mayor Wilson. “We are 100% committed to standing with our friends and families in Greene County as they recover from this disaster. We are exploring thoughtful and purposeful ways that will truly make a difference.
