TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— An 8th grade math teacher at Otter Creek Middle School is looking for aid in placing 7,000 flags at Memorial Stadium.
Since 2009, Olivia Goulding has helped honor fallen soldiers from operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan to support the Global War on Terror. Goulding has done so by placing 7,000 American flags around the one-mile path at the ISU Memorial Stadium.
Goulding is currently looking for volunteers to help with this year’s memorial, rain or shine. Volunteers of any age are welcome and are to meet at the stadium at 5 p.m. on May 20. Volunteers will assist in placing the flags and help in constructing the ten giant panels that list all those who lost their lives. Volunteers are also needed on May 27th, where the flags will be picked up at the same time and location.
The news release said to please bring your own water and to share the news with others. If you have any questions about the event, you can contact Goulding at church.oliviag@gmail.com.
