SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — For kids, the school year is coming to an end, but learning will continue as summer reading programs begin around the Wabash Valley.
In Sullivan County, the public library is holding their annual summer reading program kickoff on Tuesday, May 27th, starting at 5 p.m.
It will be held outside the library with activities for the kids.
There, parents and kids can get all the information on this year’s summer reading programs, such as weekly story times and special events.
Julie Jackson is the Youth Services Coordinator for the Sullivan County Public Library. She said this year has a special theme to encourage kids to keep reading.
“The theme is “color our world”, Jackson said. “It revolves around reading, creativity, and the arts. I think the main thing with the summer reading program is that we just want to encourage kids to stay in books and continue reading through the summer so they don’t lose that skill set, or they can get ahead of the game for when fall gets here and school starts back up. We just want to keep them reading.”
Som events require registration through the library’s website or social media. You can visit the Sullivan County Public Library’s website here.
