ARTHUR, IL (WTWO-WAWV) — In Arthur, Illinois a groundbreaking was held Friday for a new attraction. Construction will soon start on the new welcome center and museum to be built at the Illinois Amish Heritage Center.
Organizers say that the mission is: To respect the heritage, preserve the culture and promote the understanding of the Illinois Amish.
The 3.1 million dollar project should be completed in 2026. The project received a tourism attractions and festivals program grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
