TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Dr. Terry Daugherty, the dean of ISU’s Scott College of Business, was one of 100 master’s and doctoral alumni to be named a Centennial Scholar.
The 100 individuals were honored by the University of Alabama to commemorate 100 years of graduate education. The 100 chosen were those the University of Alabama believed had distinguished themselves professionally and had brought honor to their institutions.
“I congratulate Dr. Daugherty on this distinguished and well-deserved achievement,” said Dr. Christopher Olsen, the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Indiana State. “His decorated research and academic achievements have not only garnered national recognition but have been a pillar of his leadership at the Scott College of Business, which is nationally recognized as one of the best business schools in the nation.”
Dr. Daugherty earned his master’s degree in advertising and public relations from the University of Alabama in 1999. Dr. Daugherty has served on the faculty of Vanderbilt University, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Akron before working with ISU. Dr. Daugherty ranks among the top 1% of marketing researchers by ResearchGate (a 25+ million-member global community), with work that has been read by more than 180,000 scientists and the top 1% of advertising researchers according to ScholarGPS, a site that classifies 30 million scientists across 55,000 institutions. He has also co-authored a textbook titled “eMarketing: Digital Marketing Strategy” that was recognized by the Cunningham Memorial Library’s Authors & Artists award from ISU.
“I am honored by this recognition, as my experience at the University of Alabama was truly a formative period for my development, and I feel tremendous gratitude for the wonderful professors who invested in me as a student,” stated Dr. Daugherty. “When I think about the total number of people who have received graduate degrees from the university, it is humbling to be among a small number commemorated for this celebration. I have been fortunate throughout my career to have wonderful mentors who continue to influence my actions today. It is these many lessons and experiences that I draw upon in service of our students and my colleagues at Indiana State.”
