EDGAR COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — UPDATE: WTWO has reached out to the Edgar County State’s Attorney on the court proceedings for Satterfield. According to the attorney, Satterfield’s pre-trial release was denied, so she is being held pending trial. He also added that a public defender was appointed for her and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 12.
A person has been taken into custody in the investigation of a deceased person found on a Paris, IL roadway.
On Saturday, April 12, the Edgar County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call regarding a deceased person on the road at 1200th Road in Paris, Illinois. That person was identified as 31-year-old Dakota J. Gibson.
Based on information discovered during the investigation, the Edgar County State’s Attorney Office filed charges and, at the request of the Edgar County Sheriff’s Office, issued a warrant for the arrest of 34-year-old Rheanna V. Satterfield.
According to the release, Edgar County Sheriff’s Deputies took Satterfield into custody Wednesday, April 23. They were assisted by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Satterfield faces charges of first-degree murder and failure to report a crash involving death. She is scheduled to appear in court this afternoon in Edgar County. We reached out to Clark County Sheriff Bill Brown, and he tells us quote:
“Based on information that came to us, we are doing an investigation that now involves her. This will be an ongoing investigation. Until facts are established, I unfortunately do not have anything else to offer.”
