TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute Casino Resort opened on April 5th, 2024, and has been a destination for local residents and tourists alike.
Yet, General Manager Austin Muchemore said the opening had the biggest effect on new employees.
“We have over 550 team members, over 90% of them had never set foot in a casino before until the day we opened”, Muchemore said. “It’s really been remarkable to look at the evolution as they’ve, every day, gotten more and more experience. We’ve gotten better at food, we’ve gotten better at service, we’ve added things that we weren’t capable of doing a year ago.”
One of the things added along the way was concerts at the Sycamore Event Center.
“We’ve got this beautiful event center behind us, it holds 500 or so people”, Muchemore said. “We’ve had trememdous success with concerts. We’ve had variety acts, we’ve had dualing pianos. Upcoming we have Tailgate Revival, which is another great country act.”
Muchemore said, along with the casino, they will continue to bring new forms of entertainment to Terre Haute.
“We look at ourselves as the adult place for fun in Terre Haute”, Muchemore said. “It’s not just about the casino; that’s one of many things we have. If you’ve never been upstairs to Altitude, it is a completely unbelievable restaurant and bar experience. We have live music every weekend. We have the pool, which is going to be open around Memorial Day. We have so many different things, even if you don’t like to gamble. This is a place that you need to come and see and visit.”
Currently, Terre Haute Casino Resort is giving away a brand-new truck, or, if you win, you can take $30,000 cash. They are having that sweepstakes this Saturday, April 26th, from 10 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
