TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— UPDATE: According to the Indiana State Police Public Information Officer, all lanes are now open on Interstate 70 eastbound at the 3 mile marker (Darwin Road exit).
A semi that fully succumbed to a vehicle fire on I-70 has closed down all eastbound lanes for traffic.
According to the Indiana State Police PIO, all eastbound lanes of I-70 are closed down due to the fire. The officer stated that the semi on the interstate caught fire due to mechanical issues near mile marker 3. Traffic is currently backed up. One of our staff on scene was able to confirm that the fire has since been extinguished.
