TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The foundation associated with the Indiana Pacers basketball team is helping to rebuild a local basketball court.
The city of Terre Haute made major upgrades to Herz-Rose Park located in the 1500 block of Locust Street. But, there was not enough money in the budget to upgrade the basketball court. So the city applied for a grant from the Pacers Foundation. Now, a new basketball court is in the works.
“The Pacers Foundation offers a great program where non-profits and cities can partner to apply for funding to build or repair basketball courts, so we brought them the Herz-Rose Park project and said, look, we’re redoing everything else, we’re so close would you consider partnering with this and they said absolutely,” said Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun.
The mayor said the new basketball court will include the Pacers logo.
