CLINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The Putnamville Post for the Indiana State Police and the Clinton City Police, have made three arrests concerning the burglary that occurred on February 17, 2025.
Employees found the Kirby’s Food IGA, located at 1047 Western Avenue in Clinton, Indiana, broken into in February. Around $13,000 was missing from the safe. After officers began their investigation, served several warrants, and conducted multiple interviews, they ended up with three suspects under arrest.
57-year-old Mark A. Wehr of Terre Haute, 62-year-old Pamela A. Smallwood of Terre Haute, and 60-year-old Crystal J. Phelps of Clinton were taken into custody without incident. They are currently being held in Vermillion County Jail without bond. According to the Store Manager, Phelps was an employee at the Kirby’s Food IGA at the time of the robbery, she did confirm though that Phelps is no longer employed there.
Wehr is being charged with 2 counts of burglary, which is a level five felony, theft, which is a level six felony, organized theft, which is a level six felony, a class A misdemeanor for criminal trespass, and a class B misdemeanor for criminal mischief. Smallwood is being charged with burglary, which is a level five felony, theft, which is a level six felony, and organized theft, which is a level six felony. Phelps is being charged with burglary, which is a level 5 felony, theft, which is a level six felony, and organized theft, which is a level six felony.
