TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: According to Terre Haute Police Lt. Justin Sears, Vigo County Central Dispatch received a call from a restricted number, which alerted police to a possible bomb threat at Meijer.
Sears told WTWO that THPD officers responded immediately to the store located just off State Road 46 and evacuated the building.
Sears said THPD Explosive Detective K-9s were called. The building was searched twice, then extra precautionary sweeps were made in some extra areas. Sears confirmed nothing was found.
Sears told us THPD detectives were on scene and what the next steps will be, “They’ll be working with Federal Task Force Officers, utilizing any resources available to make an arrest. It’s senseless, it puts people in fear for no reason, and we’re going to do everything we can to make sure this comes to an end.”
Employees were allowed back in the building just after 10:00 a.m.
We reached out to Meijer, and a customer service representative confirmed the store has since reopened to the public.
