TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Wednesday night, the Ryves Youth Center held its monthly family fun night.
The event was held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Attendees were able to enjoy a dinner prepared by Chef Naomi Smith, and the first 100 families that show up will receive a Drive and Dish Produce Box and one dozen eggs.
Assistant Agency Director for Catholic Charities, Jennifer Tames, said Wednesday night was different than other family nights.
“Normally, our families are used to coming in and going through our cafeteria line, but we think that it is important to show respect and dignity to all of our neighbors. So, we have got some volunteers who are going to be there this evening, who are going to be serving a sit-down meal,” said Tames.
Also, at the dinner, representatives from Duke Energy will be on-site to share ways to save on your electric bill and discuss incentive programs. Duke Energy District Manager, Rick Burger, said Wednesday night was a chance for Duke Energy to have one-on-one time with customers who need help.
“We’re just proud to sit down and really meet and greet with our customers. We are starting to do a lot more of this, which is exciting because I think it builds that trust with us,” said Burger.
