VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Several state agencies are offering sandbags to those in communities impacted by flooding.
They are available at various indot facilities around the state, including in Vincennes at 3650 South US Highway 41. Many communities in the southern part of the state experienced heavy flooding due to recent rainfall.
With more projected rainfall on the way, state officials said they want to make sure those residents are prepared.
“We’re ready for it. We knew that it was going to be situation,” said Gary Brian, the public relations director for INDOT Southwest. “Unless Mother Nature throws us another curve, we’re hoping not a whole lot of other snow on the way, so we should be able to utilize the sand to help protect our hoosier communities.”
You can collect the sandbags from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the week. They are available on a first come, first serve basis, and you do not need to contact indot before coming to collect.
