SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) is preparing for its 191st Commencement, scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 10, at the Hamilton Arena within the Jeanne Knoerle Sports and Recreation Center.
The day will feature two distinct ceremonies to honor the achievements of both campus undergraduate students and those enrolled in Woods Online and graduate programs.
The morning ceremony for campus undergraduate students will begin at 10 a.m., with doors opening to guests at 9:30 a.m. Jonathan Hayden, a distinguished student from Linton, Indiana, will deliver the student address. Hayden will be receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Theology. This ceremony will celebrate the largest campus graduating class in the history of SMWC.
A baccalaureate service will be held at 1 p.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, providing a moment of reflection and gratitude for the graduates.
The afternoon ceremony will begin at 3 p.m., with doors opening at 2:30 p.m. Eleni Miller, RN, BSN, will address the graduates as the student speaker. Miller will be receiving her Master of Science in Nursing. This ceremony will mark a historic milestone for SMWC, as the first-ever doctoral degrees and hoods will be awarded.
