VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – You could make a difference for local children in need with our Pack it Back for the Summer Food Drive.
The effort is underway now and is a partnership between our station and several local organizations. Steel Dynamics provides new backpacks that will be filled with easy-to-prepare non-perishable food items. People can donate food at Toyota of Terre Haute or at Baesler’s Market in Terre Haute. Pre-made bags with food items can be purchased at Baesler’s. The Vigo County School Corporation will deliver the backpacks to children who need them. Davis Park Elementary School Principal Dr. Tammy Roeschlein said they’re so thankful for the community’s support of this effort.
“It’s really nice because many of our children need supplemental food items. We do a backpack program. They’re used to eating breakfast, lunch at school, so this supplements for the summer. It helps families. It helps kids,” said Dr. Roeschlein.
