TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — If you’ve been experiencing heavy allergy symptoms recently, you are not alone as the season is here.
Joy Whitt is a Nurse Practitioner at Sycamore Pain and Wellness. She said seasonal allergies occur between February and May here in Indiana.
Symptoms include itchy eyes, runny nose, and a light cough.
Whitt said prevention methods are difficult because, this time of year, pollen is in the air.
However, there are solutions if you are currently experiencing allergies.
“Some of those things could be saline nasal spray”, Whitt said. “They can use those a couple times a day to clear out those sinuses. You can use large volume nasal irrigation. That would be more like a Netty Pot. There’s also over the counter steroid sprays, nasal steroid sprays. Those are Fluticasone or Mometasone.”
Whitt said, beyond those options, if seasonal allergies are still affecting you, visit your local clinic.
