NEW GOSHEN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Wednesday night, severe weather moved across the Wabash Valley, and in New Goshen, the damage was widespread.
Some New Goshen residents were in shock on Thursday.
“It was an absolute madhouse, very loud,” said Lyndsay McCullough.
“Power went out then we did hear really heavy winds. I didn’t really hear what you would think of a tornado,” said Gwen Judy
“We heard just winds real bad. We heard we were going to get it. After we heard that, everything hit the front of the trailer,” said Charles Dick.
Getting their first glimpse of the destruction in the morning. Downed power lines, uprooted trees and homes were heavily damaged.
People like McCullough suddenly found her garage now destroyed.
“We have no clue where one of the walls is. We don’t know where our garage door is. Hoping that it didn’t hurt anybody when the wind took it,” said McCullough.
Even though her property was damaged, McCullough feels very blessed.
“The way the path looks of the damage, it really missed our house completely and very, very thankful God had his hand on this,” McCullough said.
As New Goshen residents pick up the pieces, they say there is only one way to go.
“There is nowhere else you can go but up. Taking care of each other in the community. Helping out and trying to get lives back together,” said McCullough.
