VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Salvation Army, in Vincennes, has received a grant allowing kids to attend their summer camp for free.
The grant is worth $5,000 coming from TCC Verizon.
It will pay for Vincennes residents to attend the Salvation Army’s Summer Camp in Bedford.
Joey Gates, a Captain at the Salvation Army, said the camp includes fishing, trails, ziplines, and religious activities.
Gates said, usually, they charge a fee per kid, per week, to attend the camp, but this year, each kid will get the full package for free.
“Usually, we charge kids around $20 per week to go to camp, but this will make sure that they don’t even have to pay that”, Gates said. “They get food on the way there and back, they get a $10 bracelet for our candy shop, so they get the full experience of camp for nothing.”
The camps will take place during June and July. Each week will have a different theme and a different age group.
