VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Saturday morning, the Knox County Health Department hosted a free tire recycling event.
Knox County residents were able to dispose of any tires they had on their property. This is part of an initiative to improve the quality of life and protecting the environment in Knox County.
The health department’s public health nurse Susan Yochum said this will benefit the community in more ways than one.
“This will benefit us by making our community look better, but it also gets rid of some of the breeding ground for the mosquitoes and other critters that stay in tires that are just thrown out along the side,” said Yochum.
Yochum said that since this event was so successful, they plan to have at least one of these per year going forward.
