TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Progress continues on Happiness Bag’s expansion project.
The organization offers recreational and educational opportunities for people with disabilities.
Construction began in October and the target completion date is July.
Executive Director Jodi Moan said a larger space will allow them to offer more individual activities and programs for the people they serve. It will also offer more learning tools, such as a computer lab and a testing kitchen.
“They deserve the same opportunities that everyone else has and this allows us and affords us the opportunity to give them those chances and, you know, we may not be for everybody. We may not you know provide everything that everybody needs, but for a number of individuals this gives them that chance that the rest of us may take for granted,” said Moan.
She added they’re still short of their fundraising goal for this project. If you’re interested in donating to the effort, she said just give them a call at (812) 234-8867 or visit their website.
