FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Multiple roads throughout the Wabash Valley will be closed for work, which could cause Hoosiers to find alternate routes to their destinations.
First, we have information that Thorpe Road will be closed from National Avenue to Sarah Meyers Drive in Terre Haute. The reason for this closing is due to pipe replacement and will take place from March 31 to April 1. No traffic will be allowed through the area during this time.
Another road closure taking place will be Meneely Street in Terre Haute, which will be closed from Stewart Avenue to Rio Grande Avenue. The portion of the road will be closed from March 31 until April 14 for culvert pipe replacement. No traffic will be allowed in the area during that time.
Next up is a traffic pattern shift on State Road 63 in Vermillion County. On or after March 31, crews will be shifting northbound traffic from State Road 63 into southbound lanes between County Road 1550 North and Sycamore Lane. After that, on or after May 12, the Interstate 74 westbound exit ramp to State Road 63, also known as Exit 4, will also close. This is the first of three phases of an intersection improvement project in the area where crews will be constructing a reduced conflict intersection. The first phase is said to last until July, with the whole project slated to be finished by the end of the year. The official detour for the ramp closure will be Interstate 74 westbound to Exit 220 at Lynch Road, then Interstate 74 to Exit 4, to State Road 63.
Lastly, a ramp will be closed on U.S. 50 in Knox County. On or after April 4, crews will be closing the westbound ramp onto U.S. 41 southbound near Vincennes. The ramp closure is part of the ongoing bridge maintenance project over Kelso Creek. INDOT hopes this will allow for traffic from U.S. 41 southbound to safely enter the work zone. Traffic will use the cloverleaf interchange just north of Vincennes at U.S. 41 and 6th Street. This is expected to last through May, depending on weather.
