TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO-WAWV)– UPDATE: Vigo County Sheriffs and Honey Creek Fire Department showed up to assist after a wreck occurred on the intersection of U.S. Highway 41 and Springhill Drive. Chief Deputy Steve Meng with the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office stated that the investigation is currently ongoing.
Meng stated that a female driver who was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 41 crashed into a southbound vehicle while attempting to turn west onto Springhill Drive. The driver of the turning vehicle was taken to an Indianapolis hospital via lifeline with non life-threatening injuries. A juvenile who was also in the vehicle was taken to a local hospital for treatment, as well as an individual from the southbound vehicle. Our reporter on the scene was able to confirm that the car appeared to be totaled.
A serious accident has shut down a section of U.S. 41 South in Vigo County.
It happened on U.S. 41 South near Springhill, around 8:30 p.m. The accident required officials to shut down traffic on both the north and south lanes of 41 near Springhill, so that a lifeline helicopter could land.
Reports indicate that the accident also entrapped an individual.
