VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Having a stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in the United States and up to 80% of them can be prevented. That’s why Good Samaritan will be offering free stroke screenings to the community.
“We are happy to offer these free screenings to our community,” said Erika Watts, RN Stroke Coordinator at Good Samaritan. “This is a great time to raise awareness about stroke, and also educate everyone about the signs, symptoms and risk factors for stroke.”
The screenings will be on Friday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (ET) at the Good Samaritan in the Charles C. Hedde, MD Health Education Center.
During the screenings, attendees will visit multiple booths offering different tests. Good Samaritan will also be partnering with the Knox County Health Department to provide attendees with free blood pressure and body mass index screenings. Additional tests include lipid profile, A1C, carotid artery screening, and atrial fibrillation.
Appointments are required for the screenings. Those interested in scheduling an appointment can do so by calling 812-885-3336 or by registering online here.
