TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The Terre Haute Fire Department is looking to hire lateral firefighters.
According to the Terre Haute Fire Department’s Public Information Officer, the process for finding a lateral is targeted at finding someone who is already a career firefighter and who is already involved in the Indiana pension fund, the INPRS. Lateral members of the Terre Haute Fire Department will keep one year for every two served previously as a career firefighter up to a maximum of eight years. These credited years will go towards your longevity in the position, PTO accrual, and help in the promotion process.
The requirements for the position are as follows:
- a valid driver’s license
- currently enrolled in the 1977 INPRS Fund
- no felonies
- high school diploma or GED
- Firefighter I/II Certification
- EMT-B or paramedic
